It doesnt seem to have projected the polypaint onto the low rez version, therefore, when i capture the color, all it does is give me a nice blank texture. Apparently many people were having the same problem on the blogs and forums I visited, with the version of Maya being non-responsive to GoZ. Further research led me to this statement from ZBrush:.
